2 Nucleoplasm Flashcards
1
Q
Function
A
- Suspends structures inside the nuclear membrane
- Helps maintain the shape and structure of the nucleus
- Plays an important role in the transportation of materials that are vital to cell metabolism and function
2
Q
Structure
A
- Also known as Karyoplasm
- Made up mostly of water, ions, and a various mixture of other molecules.
- It is completely enclosed within the nuclear membrane(nuclear envelope).
- Highly gelatinous, sticky liquid that supports the chromosomes and nucleoli.
3
Q
Found?
A
All eukaryotic cells contain nucleoplasm such as: Protists cells, Fungi cells, Animal cells, and Plant cells
4
Q
Why is it found in Eukaryotic cells
A
- The Nucleus does not contain cytoplasm to keeps its structure so it uses Nucleoplasm.
- The nucleoplasm holds the nucleus together and keeps the substances inside from colliding. It also makes nucleus function easier.
