2 Nuclear Lamina Flashcards
1
Q
Function
A
The Nuclear Lamina provides mechanical support and regulates important cellular events such as DNA replication and cell division.
2
Q
Structure
A
- Near the inner nuclear membrane surrounding the chromatin
- composed of lamins and lamin proteins as well as filaments
- Looks like the net-like structure in the picture above
3
Q
Found? Why?
A
The nuclear lamina is found in all Eukaryotic cells because it is apart of the nuclear membrane. The nuclear membrane is required to have a nucleus since it is a membrane bound organelle, which cannot be found in Prokaryotic cells.
