Democratci leadership
encourages involvement in decision making, managers may either persuade of consult their employees to make decisions
Benefits of democratic leadership
- allows the collection of opinions and ideas
- develops team spirit
drawbacks of democratic leadership
long time to make decisions
employees may only vote for things that benfit them
Laissez-faire
a hands off aproach of leadership, they provide employees the tools and resources they need and back off
Benefits of Laissez faire
- works well when members are skilled
- aallows creativity and motivation
- allows workers autonomy
Drawbacks of laissez faire
lack of control over the workforce
tasks may be poorly co-ordinated
Paternalistic leadership
Similar to autocratic leadership, btu where autocratic leaders pay little attention to the welfare of their subordinates, this isnt the case
Benefits of paternalistic leadership
attention to employee welfare given
employees are feel good as they are well looked after
Negatives of paternalistic leadership
employees have no power in decision making
low motivation
no stake in business for employees
