Define the term “Set Back”

A

The proceedure performed when a train needs to be driven back in the direction where it came.

What is Propelling?

A

Propelling = Pushing is when you drive and brake from any cab that is not the lead cab.

You only do this due to faults in the lead cab and you will always have a competent employee. Your max speed is 15km/h

A

You must stop the train until communication is regained.

A

One - Call Attention
Two - Proceed
Three - Set Back

Four - Call the CE to the front
Series of bells - Emergency STOP

A
Cab to Cab

If you are to set back in the Metro Controlled Area, what permission do you need?

A

You need Verbal from Senior Network Controller.

This is the same for MURL.

Proceedure and permisssions to set back in the MURL? (Long)

A

Permission is a TA given by the Area Controller.

a - Area control stop all trains entering the loop.

b- Area controller applies Tack Block Command then dictates a Train Authority to the driver.

  • The TA must have the number of EACH intermediate Home Signal between the train and the home signal to which the train will return. (If a driver finds any signal numbers are missing they MAY amend the TA while talking to AC).

c - Stop at Intermediate signals and ensure the signal number is on the TA.

  • This is one the exception a driver may raise trip to drive.
  • Speed is max 15km/h

d - Stop at the home signal controlling the exit from the tunnel, contact Area control and tell them you ha ve arrived.
- Lower trip and proceed as per signal.

e - Every train doing this proceedure needs a seperate TA.!

Authurity?
What will signaller do?

A

Signaller ensures the signals protecting the line in which the wrong line movement is to be made are all secured at Stop and are set and sleeved.

Driver is given Verbal Authrity from Signaller (Radio, Phone or in person)

If any points can’t be sleeved correctly, point clips must be applied by the Signaller/SMT/Competent employee to any facing movemets.
