What is the permission to enter signle line working?
The Pilots Verbal Permission.
Pilot is the CE with the red arm band
What is Single Line Working?
Single line Working is when one line is closed to normal traffic due to repairs or obstruction.
Trains that normal have a dedicated up and down line now must share a section of track.
What happens to the signals on either end of the single line working area?
Sleeved at stop
If the red badge is unavailable for the pilot how else will you be able to recognise them?
A red flag may be used instead.
Who can authorise a Driver to pass a signal exiting the single line section?
Either functioning signal with a proceed aspect or a hand signaller under instruction from the signaller.
How fast must a train run through the single line? What other precaution?
Driver must run at “Reduced speed”
Frequently using the whistle to warn workers
What special precaution will drivers make when travelling in the wrong direction on Single Line Working, during night or incliment weather?
The marker lights must be set to red
How is the obstructed line protected?
There will be a red hand signaller 400 meters from the point of work.
During absolute ocupation, what protections are placed inside the obstructed track?
3 ATWs and a red hand signaller.
