Explain the complication of scaphoid fractures, including blood supply, healing, and secondary issues
A
- Scaphoid is at risk of vascular necrosis
- May not heal properly either
- Plus, incorrect healing can lead to downstream odd transmission through hand, and cause 2° osteoarthritis

What are 2 common ways of treating scaphoid fractures?
A
- Casting & immobilisation
- Surgical fixation with screw

What is a mallet finger fracture? How do we treat it?

- Extensor tendon avulsion fracture of the phalanx
- Treated with a splint for 6 wks
