11.18 Flashcards
What do modern aircraft have to monitor and record performance and the status of systems?
An (OBMS) on board maintenance system
What is the purpose of the OBMS?
To identify and store fault data
What is another data type an OBMS stores?
Procedural data, troubleshooting data and flight manuals to save the physical copies from being needed to be carried on board
When is fault data accessible?
On ground and sometimes in flight
What is the primary function of central maintenance systems?
Monitoring fault status, initial fault system tests, generate fault reports and to upload and download software updates
What is in a typical CMS?
-One or two central maintenance computers
-Two or three multipurpose control and display units
What is the central maintenance computers purpose?
Acquires, processes and outputs data to and from systems
What is cross talk?
It enables the CMC’s to share and monitor faults
What is a hard failure?
Performance change of the system or failure of an operating systems
What is a soft failure?
It does not cause an immediate change to performance
What is the MCDU?
Multifunction control display unit it enables personnel to navigate the OBMS
What is provided when a fault is detected by a CMC?
The probable cause
How can data be brought onto an aircraft?
-disc
-pen drive
-through airport network
-on a maintenance laptop
What are the two modes associated with disc drives?
Manual - downloading data only
Automatic - viewing and downloading data
What is the purpose of a multi purpose disc drive unit?
Without one uploading and downloading can only be performed through a connector using a portable data loader
