What does the pyramid of energy vs biomass vs numbers show?
The amount of biomass/energy opposed to the actual number of organisms for each trophic level within a food system.
Why is it more efficient to consume lower trophic levels rather than high ones? Example: eating vegetarian food vs eating a carnivore diet
The meat has less energy stored inside, because it is always going to be a higher trophic level than the plants you would consume. The vegetarian diet would consist of producers, who make the energy and have the most of it to begin with.
What is efficiency?
Efficiency is the measurement of how an organism uses its energy.
