Q

Define and Encode Energy

A

The quantitative expression of the ability to do work. Energy can be transferred inside an object or between an object. Energy can also be used, stored, or even transferred.

Q

Define and Encode Potential Energy

A

Potential energy is one of the two types of mechanical energy stored by springs called Elastic Potential Energy (The unit for EPE is Joules). Elastic potential energy is affected more by the stretch distance than the spring constant; therefore, if k is doubled then EPE is doubled, but if x is doubled then EPE is quadrupled.

Q

Define and Encode Kinetic Energy

A

Kinetic energy is a type of mechanical energy that moving objects have. Kinetic energy is affected more by velocity; therefore, if m is doubled then KE is doubled, but if v is doubled then KE is quadrupled (The units of KE is Joules).
