10. Work, Power, and Impulse. Flashcards
Define and Encode Dynamics
Dynamics use forces and laws like newton’s and Hooke’s law to study why things move.
Define and Encode work
The process of moving an object with a force in the same direction of the applied force (the unit of work is Joules).
What are the 2 Equations for work? Encode.
- W=fd
2. W = fdcos(0)
Define and Encode Impulse
When a force is applied for a period of time it creates impulse which is useful to survive a deadly crash, and impulse can be a change in momentum (the unit for impulse is kgm/s).
What is the equation for impulse? Encode
J (with an arrow on the top) = Ft
Define and Encode Power
Power is the BANG! and is calculated when you divide work with time (the unit for power is watts).
What is the equation for power? Encode.
P = W/t
