Discuss the dual chain of command (Administrative/Operational) for operating forces
Op: Report to CNO for equipage, training, and deployment of forces
Admin: Report to Unified Combatant Commanders in certain areas of operation
Discuss Unified/Specified as it applies to the Operational COC
Unified- Composed of units from two or more services
Specific- only one service
Discuss Fleet Commanders as they apply to the Operational COC
Each are in charge of their own fleet. (CINCPACFLT, CINCLANTFLT,)
Discuss Task Force Commanders as they apply to the Operational COC
Divides fleet into forces and controls task force that is adaptable to change size
Discuss Task Unit Commanders as they apply to the Operational COC
Further divided into groups/units/elements
Discuss SECNAV as he applies to the Administrative COC
Responsible for policies, budgeting, and control of the navy
Discuss CNO as he applies to the Administrative COC
Principle advisor to the POTUS and the SECNAV on conduct of war and navy activities, member of the joint chief of staff. Advises when/where forces are deployed.
Discuss Commander Fleet Forces and how it applies to the Administrative COC
Commands and controls forces abroad, reports to the SECNAV
Discuss Naval Air Force Commander
Type Commander (TYCOM); responsible for adminand sometimes operational control of certain types of assets assigned in the fleet.
Discuss Functional Wing Commander
Responsible for aircraft readiness, administration, training, and squadron inspections. Encompasses many different squadrons in one area
Discuss Type Squadron Commander
CO of a squadron, reports to the wing, responsible for maintenance and material condition in a command.
Discuss the role of the MCPON
Senior enlisted advisor to the CNO on all matters pertaining to enlisted personnel. Liaison between the Enlisted and the CNO
Discuss the role of the Fleet Master Chief
Advisor to the Fleet CINC on the well being of enlisted personnel in a specific fleet
Discuss the role of Force Master Chief
Advisor to the Force Commanders on the well being of enlisted personnel within force commands
Discuss the role of Command Master Chief
principle advisor to the CO/XO on the well being of enlisted personnel; command must have more than 250 personnel
