What is nondisjunction?
when chromosomes do not separate properly

diploid but 3 copies of one chromosome type

not a sex chromosome
What are sex chromosomes?
genes that determine sex
What is a barr body?
an inactivated X chromosome
What is deletion?
when a gene gets cut out of a chromosome and is missing
What is duplication
when a gene gets double so there are extra genes
What is inversion?
when part of a gene order gets reversed
What is translocation
when crossing over occurs between two non-homologous chromosomes
What happens to a zygote when deletion occurs?
might not make enough funtional protein
What happens to a zygote when duplication occurs?
might make too much protein
What happens to a zygtote when inversion occurs?
might have trouble pairing chromosomes and issues with fertility
