Irritant contact dermatitis
Occurs when the skin comes into contact with an irritating chemical or substance; usually immediate or within hours of contact
Allergic contact dermatitis
Repeated exposure to products or chemicals causes the person exposed to develop an allergy; happens over a period of time
Contra-action
Adverse reaction that may occur as a result of a nail service and/or products used; can occur during or immediately after the service
1st degree burn
Superficial burn; never blisters; heals in 3-5 days without scarring
2nd degree burn
Extends beneath the epidermis into the dermis; blisters form
3rd degree burn
Extends all the way through the second layer of skin (dermis); may or may not have blisters and requires medical treatment
