Primary skin lesions
Changes to the structure of the skin during early stages of defelopment
Macules
Flat discoloring on the skins surface; freckles commonly found on face, neck, and chest; freckle, lentigo
Papules
Hardened, red elevations in the skin with no fluid; tubercule, pimple
Pustules
Small elevations of skin containing pus; pimple
Wheals
Solid formation above the skin, often caused by an insect bite or allergic reaction; hives, insect bite

Abnormal membranous sac containing a gaseous air, liquid, or semi-solid substance; severe acne

Larger vesticles; friction blister, 2nd degree burn

Secondary skin lesions
Appear as a disease progresses into later stages of development; most are contraindicated for services
