Niche
Biotic and abiotic resources that a species uses
Fundamental niche
the potential niche an organism makes up
Realized niche
the actual niche an organism makes up, takes into consideration competition
Mutualism
a relationship in which both parties benefit
Commensalism
a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other organism’s condition doesn’t get better or worse
Parasitism
A relationship in which one organism benefits by living off the other organism, who is getting harmed
Predation
A relationship in which the predator is killing the prey for its gain
Herbivory
A relationship in which an organism is eating the plant and is benefiting
Facultative
Two species receive benefits from each other but can live without the other
Obligatory
Two species are entirely dependent on each other
Niche partitioning
occurs when niche overlap becomes costly, the stronger organism will take over the niche
