5.4 Translation and Mutation Flashcards
1
Q
What’s the roles of mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA in translation?
A
mRNA- contains codons that are used to make amino acids
tRNA- transfers amino acids, has anticodons that matches the codons to put amino acids in the correct order
rRNA- facilitates matching of mRNA and tRNA, joins amino acids together to make proteins
2
Q
What are the different types of mutations?
A
Frameshift- inserts or deletes bases that can lead to a reading frame shift
Silent- base changed doesn’t change the amino acid
Missense- base changed changes the amino acid
Nonsense- base changed makes a STOP amino acid
