Yr 13 Nervous System Flashcards
AO1 of the Human Nervous System
Body wide system of nerve cells that collects information from the world, processes this info and then takes action by directing organs and muscles via the transmission of electro chemical messages
AO1 of the Central Nervous System
Involves complex processing. The brain = all conscious and most unconscious processing
Spinal Cord = receives and transmits info + some reflex processing
AO1 of Peripheral Nervous System
body wide network of messenger neurones. Sensory neurons take info to the CNS, and motor neurons take info away from the CNS
AO1 of Autonomic Nervous System
the part of PNS that controls actions of internal glands is an involuntary system
AO1 of Somatic Nervous System
part of PNS that controls skeletal muscles (voluntary system)
AO1 of Sympathetic Nervous System
Part of ANS, increases bodily activities, activates fight or flight chemicals, increases heartrate, breathing rate, sweating
AO1 Parasympathetic Nervous System
Part of ANS, decreases bodily activities, rest and digest
