What difficult situation did Jehoash, Uzziah, and Josiah face?
Imagine you became a king when you were a kid. How would you use your power? The Bible tells us about some kids who became kings of Judah. They had to make hard choices. Some of them did good things, but some of them did bad things. We can learn from their examples.
Why should we give attention to the examples of Jehoash, Uzziah, and Josiah?
We are not kings, but we can still learn from these Bible characters. They show us why we need to choose good friends, stay humble, and keep seeking Jehovah. This will help us to make good choices and have a happy life.
How did King Jehoash respond to High Priest Jehoiada’s instruction?
When Jehoash was a young king, he listened to Jehoiada, a faithful priest who taught him about Jehovah and how to worship him. Jehoash did what Jehovah wanted and even repaired the temple where people worshiped him.
How do we benefit when we treasure Jehovah’s commandments? (Proverbs 2:1, 10-12)
If your parents teach you to love Jehovah and follow his standards, they are giving you a precious gift. You can show that you appreciate it by listening to them and doing what they say. This will make them happy and also Jehovah happy. He will bless you and be your friend.

Jehoash made his parents and Jehovah happy when he was young. Don’t you want to do the same?
Whose advice did Jehoash start listening to, and with what results? (2 Chronicles 24:17, 18)
After Jehoiada died, Jehoash stopped listening to Jehovah and started listening to bad associates, so-called friends, princes of Judah, who did not love Jehovah. He even killed his cousin Zechariah, who tried to correct him. Jehoash became an apostate and a murderer. His own servants killed him.
Whom should we choose as friends? (See also picture.)
The lesson we can learn from Jehoash is that we need to choose good friends who love Jehovah and want to please him. They don’t have to be the same age as us. Jehoash was much younger than Jehoiada.
We should ask ourselves: ‘Do they help me to strengthen my faith in Jehovah? Are they encouraging me to live by God’s standards? Do they talk about Jehovah and his valuable truths? Do they show respect for God’s standards? Do they just tell me what I might want to hear, or do they have the courage to correct me if I stray?’
If we use social media, what should we take into consideration?
Some people use it to show off what they have or what they do.
Ask yourself: Why am I posting this? Is it to help others or to make myself look good? Am I letting the people who use social media influence me in a bad way?
What did Jehovah help Uzziah to do? (2 Chronicles 26:1-5)
God blessed him with success and prosperity. He defeated many enemies and built up the defenses of Jerusalem.
How did things turn out for Uzziah?
He tried to burn incense in God’s temple, which only the priests were allowed to do. He got angry when the high priest corrected him. God punished him with leprosy.

We should always remember that our blessings and privileges come from God, and we should give him the credit for what we can do. We should also accept discipline and correction when we make mistakes.

He wanted to learn about Jehovah and do His will. He removed false worship from the nation, even though it was very popular. He was brave and loyal to Jehovah.
What does dedication to Jehovah mean to you?
It means that you want to serve Jehovah and make him happy. It means that you love Jehovah with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. It means that you promise to obey Jehovah and follow his standards.

Johan is resisting the pressure to do bad things, like vaping. Rachel is relating what she learns at school to spiritual things, like Bible accounts or prophecies.
What helped Josiah to serve Jehovah faithfully? (2 Chronicles 34:14, 18-21)
He found the book of Jehovah’s Law in the temple and listened to it. He realized that he and his people had to obey what it said. He made changes to follow God’s Law and to worship Jehovah in the right way.
