Material that provides electrical insulation and protection to an axon
What is a Schwann cell?
Cell that wraps around axon many times to from the myelin sheath
What is a Node of Ranvier?
Unmyelinated gap between Schwann cells
What is a neurone?
A nerve cell
What is a neurotransmitter?
Chemical released at a synapse to allow one neurone to communicate with another
What is a sensory neurone?
Carries impulses from a receptor to the CNS
What is a motor neurone?
Carries impulses from CNS to effector
