ENGINE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF ROLL
- Throttle - IDLE
- APPLY - Brakes
- Flaps - RETRACT
- After coming to a stop, RUN ENGINE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF ROLL CHECKLIST
ENGINE FAILURE IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKEOFF
- Push the nose down — pitch for 70 KIAS - Flaps UP or 65 KIAS with Flaps 10°
- Mixture - IDLE CUTOFF
- FUEL SHUTOFF Valve - OFF
- MAGNETOS Switch - OFF
- Flaps - AS REQUIRED (FULL recommended)
- STBY BATT Switch - OFF
- MASTER Switch - OFF
- Cabin Door - UNLATCH
- Land - STRAIGHT AHEAD
ENGINE FAILURE (Restart Procedures)
- Push the nose down - pitch for best glide 68 KIAS
- FUEL SHUTOFF Valve - ON
- FUEL SELECTOR Valve - BOTH
- FUEL PUMP Switch - ON
- Mixture Control - RICH (if restart has not occurred)
- MAGNETOS Switch - BOTH (or START if propeller is stopped)
FIRE DURING START ON GROUND
IF ENGINE STARTS
- Power - 1800 RPM for a few minutes, SHUTDOWN and inspect for damage
IF ENGINE FAILS TO START
1. Continue cranking starter
2. Throttle - FULL
3. Mixture - IDLE CUTOFF
4. FUEL SHUTOFF Valve - OFF
5. FUEL PUMP Switch - OFF
6. MAGNETOS Switch - OFF
7. STBY BATT Switch - OFF
8. MASTER Switch - OFF
9. Evacuate aircraft, and use fire extinguisher to eliminate fire.
ENGINE FIRE IN FLIGHT
- Mixture - IDLE CUTOFF
- FUEL SHUTOFF Valve - OFF
- FUEL PUMP Switch - OFF
- MASTER Switch - OFF
- Cabin Vents - OPEN
- CABIN HT and CABIN AIR - OFF
- Airspeed - 100 KIAS or faster to create incombustible mixture
- RUN EMERGENCY LANDING WITHOUT ENGINE POWER Checklist
ELECTRICAL FIRE IN FLIGHT
- STBY BATT - OFF
- MASTER Switch - OFF
- Cabin Vents - CLOSED
- CABIN HT and CABIN AIR Knobs - OFF
- Fire Extinguisher - ACTIVATE (if available)
- RUN ELECTRICAL FIRE IN FLIGHT CHECKLIST
REMEMBER - MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED
BEFORE opening vents to REMOVE SMOKE FROM THE CABIN.
WING FIRE
- LANDING and TAXI Light Switches - OFF
- NAV Light Switch - OFF
- STROBE Light Switch - OFF
- PITOT HEAT Switch - OFF
REMEMBER to Perform a sideslip to keep the flames away from the fuel tank and cabin. Expect to execute a No Flaps landing
CO LVL HIGH ANNUNCIATOR COMES ON
- CABIN HT - OFF (push full in)
- CABIN AIR - ON (pull full out)
- Cabin Vents - OPEN
- Cabin Windows - OPEN (163 KIAS maximum windows open
speed) - Land as soon as practical.
INADVERTENT ICING ENCOUNTER
- PITOT HEAT - ON
- Turn around or change altitude (to obtain an outside air
temperature that is less conducive to icing) - CABIN HT - ON (pull full out)
- Defroster Control Outlets - OPEN to maximum airflow
- CABIN AIR - ADJUST (to obtain maximum
defroster heat and airflow) - RUN INADVERTENT ICING ENCOUNTER CHECKLIST
