Xtrap Traction Flashcards
What are the two types of Running Brake Tests performed on an Xtrap?
Running Brake Test (Service Brake) and Low Speed Running Brake Test (Service Brake)
How is a Running Brake Test – Service Brake performed? (6)
- Power train relatively to track conditions
- Place master controller into minimum brake
- Observe braking effort on ammeter and brake cylinder
- Move master controller further into breaking zone
- Observe braking effort
- Return master controller to coast
How is a Low Speed Running Brake (Service Brake) performed? (4)
- Once departure authority has been given, power train to 5km/h
- Place Master Controller to Full-Service
- Observe braking effort/brake cylinder gauge
- Bring train to stand
If a running brake is found to be insufficient, to whom/how is this reported?
Phone call to Train Controller and fill out TMM
In CCTV mode, at what speed will camera vision stop displaying (unless a PEI is activated?)
3km/h
What can cause a Flashing Blue Door Closed light on an Xtrap? (4)
- Any saloon door failing to prove closed and locked
- Any fault within the door system and/or train cable connections
- A coupler fault after recently uncoupling train
- Door Emergency Release being activated
If a FDCL is observed between stations AND the DER light is illuminated, what should a driver do?
- Acknowledge the auto-PEI call and request passengers stand well clear of open door (inform them of next stopping location)
- Stop at next platform
If a FDCL is observed between stations AND the DER light is illuminated, AND there is no response on the PEI, what should a driver do?
- Log call to train controller
- Reduce speed
- Observe train by monitoring mirrors regularly
- Stop at next platform to investigate
What is the Main Res pressure in an Xtrap?
750 to 900 kPa
What is the Main Res Safety Valve pressure?
980 kPa
What is the Brake Pipe Pressure (Normal Operation)?
0 kPa
What is Brake Pipe Pressure (Rescue Operation)?
550 kPa
What is the Holding Brake Cylinder Pressure?
120 kPa
What is the Full-Service Brake Cylinder Pressure?
190 kPa
What is the Emergency Brake Cylinder Pressure?
210 kPa
What voltage do the air compressors run on?
400v AC
What types of cars have the air compressors attached?
Tp (trailer) cars
What does the main res supply on an Xtrap?
- Braking system
- Whistle
- Aux panel
- Trip apparatus
What does the auxiliary res supply? (1)
pneumatic braking system (friction brakes)
The main res pipe supplies air from the main res on each Tp car to what equipment? (4)
- Aux Res
- Aux pneumatic panel
- Scharfenberg Coupler
- Spring Park Brakes
Under normal conditions, is the main res train-lined?
Yes
What are the four braking systems in use on an Xtrap?
- Service Brake
- Holding Brake
- Emergency Brake
- Spring Park Brake
What two brakes do the Service Brake consist of?
Electro-Dynamic and Electro-Pneumatic
Are PEI calls recorded in an Xtrap?
Yes
