Italy was the first state to have a fascist government, the founder and leader was Benito Mussolini
Weimar Republic
In Germany a socialist or communist system was rejected in favor of a conservative democratic republic
Reichstag = Weimar Republic’s elected bod
The National Socialist Party (Nazis)
Adolf Hitler rose to power as head of the Nazi party, Hitler’s Nazism inspired extreme nationalism and dreams of renewed greatness
Hitler
was convinced that the Aryan race was the most highly evolved race and inferior races like Slavs and Jews corrupted the German race
Hitler actions
hitler became rebuilding the German military which was a violation of the Treaty of Versailles
Germany then withdrew from the League of Nations
took back the Rhineland which was taken away after WWI
formed alliance with Japan
he took over Austria and moved to reclaim the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia
Munich Conference
Hitler was given the Sudetenland without permission from Czechoslovakia
This was in return for his to stop his expansionist activities, known as appeasement
Hitler did stop his expansion for a year until he invaded the remaining territories in Czechoslovakia
Non- Aggression Pact
Britain and France signed pact with Greece, Turkey, Romania, and Poland that said if anyone of the were attack they would go into war
Nazi-Soviet Pact
Stalin and Hitler agreed that Germany would not invaded the Soviet Union if they stayed out of Germany’s military affairs
Start of WWII
German forces marched into Poland and Britain declared war on Germany
