Used in engineered wood to enhance the properties of the useable parts of trees such as sawdust, wood chips and fibres
Resins with fire retardant uses
Resin is impregnated with fire retardant cladding an example is indoor flooring
Laminations uses
Veneers such as natural wood are laminated on the board surface to enhance aesthetics
Preservatives uses
Protects outdoor wood from fungal and insect attack
Pigments uses
Enhances aesthetics for example outdoor decking. Used to make cheap softwoods look more like hardwoods
Fire retardant uses
Used to pressure treat wood for roof joists and cladding
Modified natural polysaccharide uses
Added to hardwood floor panels
Structural composite lumber and laminated veneer lumber uses
Used in structural applications such as beams, joists and rafters
