Laser cutting cad
Uses a high energy laserbeam to cut a prize materials and compressed air or gas to blow the material away leaving a clean edge. 2D card drawings are downloaded to lays cutters which convert the drawing into CNC program. This program controls the movement of the laser and the XY axis and power and speed can be adjusted to cut or engraved different materials.
Routing cad
Both 2-D and 3-D card drawings can be downloaded to see and see routers. They are usually used to cut sheet materials that are too thick for laser cutting. They make moulds and 3-D models.
Milling cad
They work in a similar way to routers and can be fitted with tools to drill holes cut slots or shape the surface and edge of range of materials. They can move the bed of the machine in the XY axis but the cutter can also be moved in the Z axis to vary the depth of cutting. Some machine can also, angle the cutting head and the machine bed.
Turning cad
Involves the use of lids usually to machine metals in a bar form or plastic rods. Could be used to reduce the diameter and length. Industrial CNC leaves might form part of a flexible manufacturing system together with milling machines, laser cutters or punches all served by robot arms loading material and transferring parts between machines.
Plotter cutting cad
Convert 2CAD drawings into a CNC program that will use XMY coordinates to cut out what has been drawn usually on thin sheet materials such as self adhesive vinyls.
Fea
Simulates vibration or shock loads on products to highlight any potential weak points that might need further development.
