Accuracy Flashcards
Measurements
Process of using tools such as rules, tapes and gauges to check existing dimensions
Marking out
Transfer of designs onto materials to indicate position of features such as holes
Accuracy
The level of conformity of a measurement to required value
Tolerance
Acceptable range of accuracy
Go no go gauge scale
Multiple
Venieer calliper scale
One off
Jigs
Guide tools such as drill for repetitive machining operations without the need for marking out
Template
A pattern to transfer a design onto a workpiece to ensure consistency
Datum
Reference surface or edge from which measurements are taken to improve accuracy
Standardisation: geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
A standard system of engineering drawing symbols and figures used for specifying the product component dimensions and tolerances
What is used for marking metal
Hi carbon steel scriber which is harder than the metal it is marking so it’s able to scratch the surface. If the scratch lines are difficult to see special Inc such as engineers blue can be applied to the surface being marked out so that the lines are more visible.if circles are required dividers are used which have two points.
