A patient who reports obstructions in the throat but has no actual physical obstruction (plum pit qi) has what pathology?
· Insubstantial Phlegm
· LV Qi Stagnation
A patient with mild soreness in the throat has what pathology?
Yin Deficiency
A patient with a sore or very sore throat that looks red (and maybe raw) has what pathology?
Excess Heat – often LU Heat
A patient with strep throat that is painful, looks scarlet red, and emits pus has what pathology?
Toxic Heat / Fire
What are some possible nose conditions?
· sneezing
· runny nose
· counterflow / major bleeding
A patient with sneezing has what pathology?
· external pathogen – could be Heat or Cold
· to distinguish, look at other factors (is there mucus?)
A patient with a runny nose has what pathology? What if the fluid is yellow? What if the fluid is dry and has streaks of blood?
· LU pathology (bc Lung opens to nose)
· LU Heat if fluid is yellow
· LU Yin Vacuity if dryness with streaks of blood
A patient with major nose bleeds has what pathology?
