Describe Bourbon Whiskey?
*95% of Bourbon is produced in Kentucky.
*Made from: at least 51% maize, rye, wheat & malted barley.
*Distilled in a continuous still and matured in a charred new oak casks for a min of 2 years.
What you know about Tennessee Whiskey?
*Is a sour mush Whiskey, and must be made from 51% corn.
*Matured in a new charred oak barrels and filtered trough maple charcoal.
What you know about Islay?
*The most important Scottish Island for Whisky.
* With strong peaty flavor and smoky aroma. (Lagavulin)
What is Rum?
*Spirit distilled from fermented molasses or sugar cane juice.
*2 main styles: white & dark Rum.
What other factors contributes to the production of Rum?
*Method of distillation
*Caramel used for coloring
*Maturation in charred on uncharred oak casks.
Describe white or silver Rum?
*Originally from Cuba
*Now produced also in Puerto Rico & Jamaica.
*Distilled in continuous still, and matured for 1 year in a glass or stainless steel.
What you know about Dark Rum?
*Rich & full bodied
*Matured in a charred oak barrels for 5 to 7 years, and adjusted with caramel.
What you know about Golden and Spicy Rum?
*Golden- receive their color from oak maturation.
*Spicy- flavored with spices or fruit.
Describe Demerara Rum?
*Light Rum from Guyana, matured in wood for 3 years and adjusted with caramel.
