What are Maguire’s (2007) 5 main messages?

BCS shows there’s a lot of crime not recorded by criminal statistics
Increases in crime up to mid 1990s were less steep than that shown by official figures
The general trend in crime is very similar between both sources
Balance between car crime, property crime and violence against the person is very similar for both
BCS much better-measuring offences against individuals households by strangers. Less successful re. crimes committed within family units or known to each other
