Aphasia lesions?
A
Vascular lesions (or strokes) usually result in focal damage,
i.e., there is a clear boundary to the area of
structural brain injury

primary progressive aphasias (PPA)?
A
-gradual onset
-worsen with time
-eventually functions other than language effected
-form of dementia

All other(non PPA) Aphasia types?
A
-sudden onset
- symptoms stay same or improve
- aphasia is not dementia

Jargon Aphasia?
A
- type of fluent aphasia in which an individual’s speech is incomprehensible, but appears to make sense to the individual
-severe form of Wernicke’s aphasia with rapid verbal output, abundant paraphasic substitutions, and incomprehensible verbalization
