What is cluttering?
A
-Cluttered speech is difficult to understand
-Often, the speaker is unaware of own unintelligibility: lack of self-monitoring skills

What are symptoms of cluttering?
A
-Unusual speech rate: rapid or irregular, or
both
-Sounds and syllables get omitted
-robot-like speech when trying to speak slowly
- many non-SLDs
- articulation can sound slurred

Why is cluttering different from stuttering?
A
- They dont really know what they want to say as their message gets lots in mazes
- in most cases they arent aware
- There are always rapis or irregluar speech rates
- mostly non SLDS
- speech rythm and melody is unusual in many cases

A
-unknown incidence or prevalence
-diffcult to diagnose
-disagreement on diagnosis criteria

additional signs/symptoms of cluttering?
A
- disorganized lang or convo skills
- symptoms are controllable by the speaker to an extent(they can slow down w effort)
- social/vocational issues from cluttering
- sloppy handwriting
- low attention span
-auditory perception difficulties
