Week 7- muskloskeletal Flashcards
Provide the framework on which the body is constructed and protect and support internal organs
-point of attachment for msucles
bones
- Are the places where bones come together
joints
connective tissue that binds muscle to bones
tendon
connective tissue that binds bone to bones
ligament
osteocytes
bone cell
What is Osseous tissue made up of ?
- osteocytes (bone cells)
2. collagen (dense connective tissue) 3. calcium salts
immature osteocytes that produce the bony tissue that replaces cartilage during ossification
Osteoblasts
large cells that function to reabsorb or digest bony tissue from the inner side of bones - this enlarges the inner bone cavity so that bone does not become overly thick or heavy
steoclasts (clasts = break)
the breaking down and rebuilding of bones is called
bone remodeling
