Week 6 Flashcards
Speed accuracy tradeoffs
-fast movements are less accurate
-accurate movements are slower
Fitts law
-tap between 2 targets as fast as possible maintaining 95% accuracy
-time linearly increases with movement difficulty for closed loop tasks
What does MT stand for
-movement time
What does A stand for
-amplitude
-distance between targets
What does W stand for
-width
-width of actual target
What does ID stand for
-index of difficulty
When ID increases what happens to MT
-increases
What units are ID in
-bits
What does fitts law hold for
-children
-lower limb movements
-under magnification
-imagined movements
-perceived movements
Effective target width
-the effective target width shows how much of the target you actually end up touching
Schmidts law
-effective target width increases as amplitude increases and as movement time decreases
Fitts law violations
-we do not plan for the worst case scenario, we just adapt by the time its the last target
Impulse variability theory
-as you produce more force, you will be more variable in producing this force
-movements should become more accurate when 65% or more force is required
