do we analyze spontaneous speech?
- correct information unit - the word is intelligible in the context, accurately used in relation to the stimuli, and its relative and informative (content focused, even if not grammatically correct)
- quantitative production analysis: measure # of complete sentence in a sample
what should we keep in mind regarding spontaneous speech?
it may not elicit more complex structures such as passives
