Weather
a term used to describe the short-term day-to-day changes in the atmosphere for a place
Climate
the average weather conditions over a period of time(at least 30 years)
Sunshine recorder
a weather instrument used to record the amount of sunshine during a 24-hour period
Wind vane
a weather instrument used to show wind direction
Cup anemometer
a weather instrument used to show wind speed
Rain gauge
a weather instrument used to measure the amount of rainfall that an area receives daily
Maximum/minimum thermometer
a thermometer that records the highest and lowest daily temperatures
Wet/dry bulb thermometer(Hygrometer)
an instrument that is used to measure the maximum and minimum levels of relative humidity in an area
Barometer
an instrument used to measure atmospheric pressure
Isobar
a line on a map joining places of equal pressure
Isohyet
a line on a map joining places of equal rainfall
Isotherm
a line on a map joining places of equal temperature
Knot
an international measurement used in meteorology for measuring wind speed(1 knot = 1.85kmh)
Okta
a unit used in meteorology to measure cloud cover(1 okta = 1 eighth of the sky)
Stevenson Screen
an enclosure used to protect weather instruments and ensure that they give accurate readings
