what is the role of the basal ganglia?
A
- consists of caudate nucleus, putamen and globus pallidus
- responsible for gathering info about where the body is in space, what the goal of movement is, memories of previous movements and a strategy for execution
- it sends the info to the motor cortex

what is the role of the cerebellum?
A
- looks like a mini brain
- coordinates movements so that they aresmooth(sequences steps and integrate movements from multiple muscles)

what is the role of the primary motor cortex?
A
- responsible for movement of the body’s skeletal muscles (e.g. a high five)
- the PMC on the left hemisphere controls the right side of the body, and vice versa (contralateral organisation)
