-usually unilateral
-larger than nodules
-often have dominant surface blood vessels [38]

causes of vocal cord polyps 5
if unilateral
-acute phonatory injury (trauma)
if bilateral
-GORD
-untreated hypothyroid
-chorinic laryngeal reactions
-chronic inhalation of irritants (industrial fumes, cigareets)

main cause is chronic voice abuse
-yelling, shouting
syx and sy of Vocal cord nodules and polyps 2
slowly developping hoarness and breathy voice
diagnosis of Vocal cord nodules and polyps 2
laryngoscopy and sometimes biopsy (to rule out cancer)
treatment of Vocal cord nodules and polyps 3
avoidance of cause -for nodules-avoid smoking, treat GORD
-this allows healing
for polyps - NEED surgical removal
-microlaryngoscopy
voice therapy aswell

if syx persisting > 3wks
