inflammation and enlargement of one or several major salivary glands

what can cause sialadenitis
bacterial infection -usually staph A
-can occur if salivary flow is diminished by illness or medication or salivary stone
syx of acute bacterial sialadenitis 2
rapid onset pain and swelling
syx of chornic sialadenitis
intermittent and recurrent episodes of tender swelling
what can cause autoimmune sialadenitis
sjorgen syndrome (can be uni or bilateral)

culture and sensitievy of exudate from duct
