disease provess may also enter cochlea directly causing a high frequency sensinoneural hearing loss
inhertiance pattern of otoscleroisis
autosomal dominant with incomplete penetrance
-85% bilateral

Schwartze sign- falmingo pink blush seen through posterior superior segement of drum showing active disease in middle ear space around ossicles
treatment for otosclerosis 3
no treatment
hearing aid
if hearing aid fails surgery
cochlear implants
types of surgery for otosclerosis
stapedectomy or stapedotomy to replace fixed stapes
-surgery can cause total hearing loss so careful
- only perfromed on the worse hearing ear
