15
Q

what axis are the eye muscles attached along?

A

the orbital axis not the optical axis (so muscles will have more than one action on the eyeball)

16
Q

what is the effect of the oblique’s being inserted to the back of the eyeball?

A

they pull the posterior part of the eyeball up/down causing the opposite effect on the anterior part. superior oblique depresses the eye. inferior oblique elevates the eyeball.

17
Q

what the lateral rectus has abducted the eye what is the effect of the superior rectus?

A

elevation

18
Q

what the lateral rectus has abducted the eye what is the effect of the inferior rectus?

A

depression

19
Q

when will the superior rectus cause intorsion?

A

when the medial rectus has adducted the eye

20
Q

when will the inferior rectus cause extorsion?

A

when the medial rectus has adducted the eye

21
Q

what is the effect of the superior oblique when the eyeball is adducted?

A

depression

22
Q

what is the effect of the superior oblique if the eye is abducted?

A

intorsion

23
Q

when will the inferior oblique cause elevation?

A

when the eyeball is adducted

24
Q

when will the inferior oblique cause extorsion?

A

when the eyeball is abducted

25
Q

where is the ciliaris muscle?

A

In the ciliary body

26
Q

where is the constrictor pupillae?

A

in the iris at the pupillary border

27
Q

where is the dilator pupillae?

A

running radially in the iris

28
Q

what intrinsic eye muscles are innervated by the parasympathetic system?

A

ciliaris muscle and constrictor pupillae

29
Q

what intrinsic muscle is innervated by the sympathetic system?

A

dilator pupillae
