15
Q

Describe the diaphragm

A

Dome shaped

Attaches to pericardium (via central tendon)

Attaches to ribs 7-12

Attaches to L123 by two crura

Because of nerve supply C345 restrictions in neck affect the diaphragm

Contains 3 openings :

1-aortic in front of vertebral column.
2-Oesophageal which carries vagus nerve
3-vena cava opening

16
Q

Approach to treat diaphragm

A

Hand on back L123
Hand on front spread centrally across lower ribs

Or addressing each side with anterior hand spreading across one side of lower rib cage

Or more physically: sink thumbs into tissues under inferior boarder of rib cage

17
Q

Nerve supply oesophagus

A

T4-8

Vagus

18
Q

Common issues with oesophagus

A

Acid reflux
Heart burn
Hiatus hernia

19
Q

How do u integrate the system after vicera unwinding work

A

AP contact (anterior posterior)- abdominal integration

Sacrum double contact - neurological integration

Sacrum crown contact - core integration

20
Q

What’s most important in viceral work

A

Treat the whole person

Loosen tissues to release surface tension and allow deeper connection

Deep physical kneading like making dough

21
Q

What other structures may u encounter when unwinding abdomen

A

Aorta - in posterior abdominal wall along mid line down to L3

Psoas - bilaterally along side vertebral column
