VENOUS ANATOMY Flashcards
deep to dermis
variable patterns
valvular
perforators connect them to deep veins
-superficial to deep (V A N)
superficial veins
longest in the body, top of foot to groin, courses with saphenous nerve
continuation of? level of?
great saphenous vein
medial marginal vein at level of medial malleolus
vein used for coronary bypass, IVF administration?
great saphenous vein
this vein is the continuation of the lateral marginal vein, behind the lateral malleolus
up the posterolateral leg, perforates popliteal fascia, goes between heads of gastroc, merges into the popliteal vein
small (short) saphenous vein
these vein types are through the deep fascia and connect to superficial veins to deep veins
the valves keep flow going superficial to deep, and do not allow deep to superficial flow
calf pump keeps blood in deep veins moving superiorly
perforating veins
