A combination of the skill being performed and the situation that one faces

What is the first stage of Vealey’s model?
The performer approaches a sporting situation with two things: their level of competitiveness and their trait confidence
What is the second stage of Vealey’s model?
They will then access the objective sporting situation
What is the third stage of Vealey’s model?
A combination of the three factors will produce a level of state confidence. At this stage the performer will be drawing on past experiences
What is the fourth stage of Vealey’s model?
Performance will occur
What is the fifth stage of Vealey’s model?
If the performance is successful, trait, state and competitive orientation will increase
What is the sixth stage of Vealey’s model?
If the performer fails, trait state and competitive orientation will decrease
