What are the two clinical conditions caused by this virus?
A
Chicken pox and Shingles.

Describe the pathogenesis and the clinical course of infection by this virus.
A
Aerosol or direct contact spread. Haematogenous dissemination. Vesicular skin lesions. Vesicles rupture, crust over, then heal. Some virus lies dormant in dorsal root ganglia and become reactivated later with immunosuppression.

What are the complications of chicken pox?
A
Lung: interstitial pneumonia. CNS: encephalitis Skin: shingles, bacterial superinfection Gut: necrotising visceral lesions (3 to pass)
