What are the predisposing factors for calcific aortic stenosis?
A
Age: normal valve 70-90, bicuspid valve 50-70
Hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, inflammation, etc.

What are the clinical consequences of aortic stenosis?
A
Gradual obstruction of LV outflow leads to concentric LVH - pressure overloaded.
Ischaemia / angina
CHF and syncope

What are the potential complications of a congenital bicuspid aortic valve?
A
Calcification, aortic stenosis, regurgitation, infective endocarditis, aortic dilatation, dissection
