localized or diffuse reticular or ground-glass opacities.
Amiodarone. Pulmonary symptoms?
progressive dyspnea, nonproductive cough, bilateral inspiratory crackles, chest x ray findings.
INTERSTITIAL PNEUMONITIS - chronic, occurs months within start of use
Amiodarone. PFT findings?
Restrictive pattern, decr. DLCO
Amiodarone table. Cardiac?
Bradycardia, QT prolongation
Amiodarone table. Pulmonary?
Interstitial pneumonitis
Organizing pneumonia, lung nodules
Amiodarone table. Endocrin?
hypo or hyper thyroidism

Blue-gray skin discoloration

Amiodarone pulmonary vs viral?
viral = fever, fast time course of symptoms
Hypothyroidism. mechanism?
Cause iodine overload –> suppress thyroid hormone synthesis (Wolff-Chaikoff effect).
ALSO amiodarone inhibits T4 -> T3 conversion
Hyperthyroidism. Mechanism?
Hyperthyroidism in patients with nodular thyroid disease OR latent graves disease (type 1) OR destructive thryoiditis with released hormone (type 2)
Amiodarone on thyroid.
Disorder: Decr. T4 -> T3. levels?
T4 incr.
T3 decr.
TSH normal or increased.
Amiodarone on thyroid.
Disorder: Decr. T4 -> T3. Tx?
No Tx needed
