Mandatory arrests?
-shall arrest any warrant and some Adult Abuse
Arresting injured suspects?
-officers should avoid arresting any person that requires medical treatment
Seatbelt violations as RS for a car stop?
seat belt violations are not good enough to stop a car
-Arrest for traffic violations only occur when:
- DWI
- DWLR/DWLS with prior convictions
- statements are made they don’t intend to honor court appearance (shall be approved by field supervisor)
Officers dispose of summons?
no PD employee shall dispose of municipal traffic summons
Officer discretion in handling CFS?
officers have the discretion of handling CFS in whatever manner they feel will most appropriately resolve the call (keeping in mind: SOG, current procedures, law, supervisory guidance)
Officer duties during a slow CFS period?
uncommitted time during a work shift will be used at their own discretion in furtherance of the goals of the SPD
Offer referrals to other agencies?
when a referral to another agency is appropriate, the officer should make every effort to facilitate the referral for the involved citizen
