Age of offender..

-offender must be 17

Collect for…
A
-1st and 2nd burglary, all felonies offenses against persons, sexual, prostitution, offenses against family, pornography

Prior to collection, confirm a pre-existing sample not on file..
A
- contact COMCEN or MULES to have a criminal history OR QDNA query run
- if on file already, don’t collect

Collection points…
A
- kit is designed for a one time use
- collection is not evidence
- fingerprint of left index finger
- write “A” next to jail box to indicate it was collected following an arrest
- respond directly to the SPD to put envelop in collection box
- offenders don’t have the right to refuse, can do a capillary finger stick – place blood directly on pink circle

If offender refuses to provide a sample…
A
- if offender refuses all collection, they need to contact their supervisor. Supervisor will notify Watch Commander
- can write “refused” on front of card and send it
- prosecutor will notify CIS of warrant refusal. CIS will make notification to MSHP Lab by completing MSHP DNA Expungement Form with 90 days
