  • outer layer, one million nephrons (tiny filters)
  • each nephron = cluster of capillaries called glomerules, which are surrounded by Bowman’s capsule, which lead to tubule

  • where kidneys receive blood from branches aorta
  • filter blood, reabsorb materials, secrete waste and excess water in urine
  • renal arteries = arterioles= glomerulus= filtered
