Q

Layers of skin: epidermis

A
  • most superficial
  • consists of epithelial cells
  • no blood vessels
  • deepest portion= stratum basale which undergo division continuously. Older cells pushed to surface which keratinized (gross waxy which water proof surface of skin)

Q

Temperature homeostasis

A
  • activation of sweat glands
  • receptors in semis of skin communicate with hypothalamus.
  • sweat = cooling
  • effectors = sweat glands, blood vessels (vasodilation), muscles (shivering- muscular system)
