What are the parts of the distal radius and ulna? (5)
Styloid process of radius, styloid process of ulna, ulnar head, interosseous membrane, ulnar notch of radius
What are the parts of the hand called?
Carpal bones, metacarpals, phalanges
How many phalanges do we have in each finger?
2 on thumb, 3 everywhere else
What are the phalanges and their joints called?
proximal, middle and distal
Joints - proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP)
distal interphalangeal joint (DIP)
What are the carpal bones in order lateral to medial?
Scaphoid, Lunate, Triquetrum, Pisiform, Trapezium, Trapezoid, Capitate, Hammate
What are the superficial flexors? (5)
Pronator Teres, Flexor Carpi Radialis, palmaris longus, flexor carpi ulnaris, flexor digitorum superficialis
What layer is flexor digitorum superficial in?
Intermediate, in with superficial because it originates in same place
What are the deep flexors? (3)
Flexor digitorum profundus, flexor pollicis longus, pronator quadratus
What are the origin, insertion and action of pronator teres?
O: Humeral head - medial epicondyle
Ulnar head - coronoid process
I: Lateral aspect radius
A: Pronation
What are the origin, insertion and action of Flexor Carpi Radialis?
O: medial epicondyle
I: 2nd (sometimes 3rd) metacarpal
A: Flexion of wrist, radial deviation
What are the origin, insertion and action of Palmaris longus?
O: Medial epicondyle
I: palmar aponeurosis or hand - connective tissue of hand
A: Flexion of wrist
What are the origin, insertion and action of Flexor capri ulnaris?
O: medial epicondyle, 2nd head on ulna
I: pisiform on triquetrum
A: flexion of wrist, ulnar deviation

- prevents adduction
Annular ligament - allows for rotation of radius
Ulnar collateral ligament - medial epicondyle to annular
- prevents abduction
